the camp (part 2)

I hope you all had a lovely mid-week holiday. Mine was fantastic. I spent my fourth of July eating, swimming, and hanging out with some family and friends. The 4th is the epitome of summer celebration and while the summer isn't my favorite season, I still love it. Besides, now that I have a pool to jump in whenever it gets too scorching hot in my apartment, it's basically a long term vacation (plus a few hours of work here and there of course).

I'm learning I can't help but favor pictures with higher contrast and pops of color. It's just my thing I guess. Shooting these pictures made me learn a lot about how I shoot. Besides experimenting more with manual focusing, I also learned I tend to hold my breath when I shoot, which is NOT a good thing. Note to self: remember to breathe. 

the camp (part 1)

I've mentioned it a few times on this blog, and my family and friends here about it all the time. The Camp. What is the camp? Well, it's where William works. It's a summer camp and a preschool during the school year. It's 26 acres of pure awesome, with waterslides, pools, a waterpark, soccer and baseball fields, volleyball and basketball courts, climbing walls, playgrounds, a trapeze, and so much more. 

The camp is like a second home. This weekend I stopped by and took a few pictures of it. I not only wanted to get some pretty snaps of the place I love but I also wanted to work on experimenting with my camera. I all to often stick with the automatic settings and I wanted to step outside my comfort zone and mess with the manual focusing. Here are some of my favorites. 

day trippin' : hanging out in philly

On Sunday Will and I went down to Philly to see our good friend Iovanni. We had lunch, some drinks, and hung out around Outfest, a gay pride street festival. It was tons of fun but there were a LOT of people there and I'm not too fond of crowds. Also, on literally every corner, there was someone with a microphone condemning all the gays to hell, so that was not so fun. Here are some pictures from our afternoon.

a day at the aquarium

My brother in law was in town for a few days and he is going to be leaving the country in a couple months so we wanted to treat him to some fun activities. Will took him up to Manhattan on Tuesday and on Wednesday, we made a day trip out to Camden to the aquarium. The aquarium is right across the river from Philly and the boys spent the evening downtown while I went back to work. This is the third time I have been to this aquarium but this was definitely the best visit. We went so early that hardly anyone was there. My favorite part? The jellyfish. I would like one of my own some day. (I only brought my cell phone so sorry for the quality of the pictures but I still wanted to share.)

from runway to everyday

So New York Fashion Week is winding down and while some people, not including me, have come to the realization that chances are pretty good they will never own anything walked down those very famous runways, it doesn't mean we have to ignore it! In fact, I am doing the opposite of ignoring it and obsessing. If you check out my pinterest, you can see just how obsessed I am. Now, even if I don't have money to spend on these AMAZING collections, (right now... maybe someday, okay?!) I do have eyes. With those eyes I have put together some real world tips for people like me who need all the help we can get. Here are a few things I've learned from my favorite collections thus far that I can use everyday.
