product junkie: hair

I am a self professed product junkie. I just can't help myself. When it comes to trying out recommendations or just picking up something brand new from Target, I just can't get enough products. This little feature will highlight my current favorites, though I am sure they will soon change as I am always trying new things. Let's get to talking about my favorite hair products.

Aquage Sea Salt Texturizing Spray

This was actually a recommendation by the girls over at Bueno Bueno. I am super lazy when it comes to my hair, so anything that helps me create some kind of style with minimal effort is automatically my favorite. This spray is just spritzed into your damp hair after a shower. Just a few scrunches to kick start the waves and you're good to go. It helps to create messy, beachy waves that would otherwise be nonexistent, at least for me. If you have slightly wavy to slightly curly hair, I say give this a shot.

Bigsexyhair Volumizing Dry Shampoo

You might say it's the Jersey girl in me, I say you're probably right. I never think my hair is big enough, but it's mostly because it's so thick and heavy, it quickly falls flat. This dry shampoo is the best I have tried so far. First, it has a lot of product in it. I've been through a few dry shampoos which are mostly air and are definitely not worth the money. Second, I would consider it a 2 in 1 product. Not only does it do away with oily hair but it creates texture to volumize. (If you don't know the miracle that is dry shampoo, go buy one and thank me later.) It's perfect for adding a bit of volume to hair that's fallen flat on day 2 or 3 or 15 (I don't know how often you wash your hair, no judging here.)

it's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product

Another product recommended by the Bueno Bueno girls, this one definitely is a 10. I don't know about the whole miracle thing but it sure comes close. Last year, after jumping in the pool and then laying in the sun, my hair would turn into a frizzy brittle mess. This year? A whole lot less gross and a whole lot more silky smooth. This is essentially a leave in conditioner. I've actually stopped using a conditioner on my hair and now only rely on this. While I am a bit generous in my application, the spray nozzle creates a very fine mist so chances are you won't over apply. Just spray on your damp hair (not near the roots) and that's it. You definitely will notice a difference. Highly recommended to girls (or boys) who tend to get a bit frizzy.

Of note: If you are going to try these out, buy them from Amazon. Seriously so much cheaper than in store. Also, of course, no one paid me for these reviews.

custom basics

eshakti3
I just discovered a new online store, eShakti. Funny name, but give it a chance. Now, I haven't gotten anything from here yet as new clothes aren't in my budget right at this moment, but when they are, I'm going to give this place a try. Not only can you get cute, classic pieces that range from $40-$80, in sizes 0-26W,  but you can customize them too! (The site says customization is free until March 31st!)

Don't like short dresses? You can order the dress to come below the knee. Don't like to show off your arms? Add a sleeve! Sounds awesome right? Go check 'em out.

Just thought I would share this cool find! If you've gotten anything from this site I would love to hear about your experience.

shoe lovin'

I've got a serious weakness for shoes. These are some styles I'm lusting after.

platform sandals
I've been rounding up my favorite platform sandals. They are a throwback to 70's styling and also give you height AND comfort, which is a difficult combination to find!
smoking loafers with shine
Smoking loafers are a more grown up version of the round toe flat. The almond toe elongates your leg. These are some of my favorite shimmering choices.
simple sandals with design details
I love simple summer sandals and these have just a touch of design flare to kick up the style.

air plants

I'm really good at killing things. Wait, that sounds pretty awful. I'm really bad at keeping things alive. Err... Okay. I have the opposite of a green thumb (a red thumb?). I have managed to keep some plants outside alive, much to my amazement, but I am sure this October snow we just had is going to mess them up. However, I have never really managed to keep any plants inside alive. I've never even given succulents a go even though they don't require much effort, that's how low I think of my plant keeping skills. When I read about air plants I thought, finally, a plant I may actually be able to keep alive. They don't need soil, only a little bit of light, and water once a week? That sounds do-able.

These are definitely going on my Christmas list this year. All photos from toHOLD on Etsy.

This weekend...

I hope you had a great weekend too! Did you do anything special?

Since I am on a very limited budget and my eyes are too big for my apartment (har har, get it?) I will post things that I've been craving and not do more damage to my poor bruised and battered wallet.
This bag from Urban Outfitters. The masculine structure would look very pretty against a cute summer dress. Plus, it would be nice to not lug around a huge bag during the summer although I guess that would mean leaving somethings at home...

These peacock feather tights from ModCloth. SO CUTE!

This floral strapless dress from F21 and

this lace back cardigan. It's nice to have stuff that fit's me from F21, one of the few stores I can afford.

Now on to things I CANT afford.

A gorgeous 40's inspired bracelet from Talbots. $60 bucks worth? Well it is really pretty.... maybe someone could be really nice and buy it for me... hmmmm.....

As seen on The Man Repeller, this Rachel Roy ring is too cool!

If my apartment was cool, with hardwood floors and graphic designs everywhere, I would buy this rug from Ikea! Too bad it's full of girly colors and floral patterns.... oh wait. I like that too.

That's all for now. That's not too bad, right? Notice how I didn't have any shoes on there? Oh, you didn't notice but now that I pointed it out, you did? Well, it is NOT because I just bought some really cute wedges. No way, Jose. Speaking of which.... I know some girls can rock the socks with heels trend, but I really don't think I am one of them. I've been wanting to wear my Spring shoes for a while now and I tried a pair on with some of the few "nice" (and I use that term loosely) socks I own. Yeah... totally not for me. I'd take a picture to show you, but I really don't want to scare people away.

What is it that you've been wanting to buy?

Have an awesome day!

All that Glitters is...

I think it's been this extra brutal winter that has made me lean more towards bright and shiny metallic colors. Here are some of my favorite gold accessories.
These are my new earrings from Moorea Seal. I love the chevron shapes and the gold chain. (These earrings were my reward for passing the 10lb mark!)
These are my new glittery gold flats from Target. They may look like little girl shoes... because they are. So what if my feet fit into a size 5 in girls, that just means more shoes for me and boy do I adore these ones!
This is a clutch from F21. If I wasn't so addicted to having all this stuff in my purse, I would use it everyday! Also, my nails are gold/silver, so bonus points to me!

Make your weekend glitter!
